Shepherd’s Fry

Shepherd’s pie is a classic British dish commonly made with beef or lamb topped with a cheesy mashed potato crust, flavored with thyme, rosemary and wostershire sauce.
But alas! I don’t have an oven at home, and was feeling this urge to make one.
So here’s my take on this classic with a bit of Indian twist .. Hope you all will like it 😊😄

For the meat filling:
1. Chicken mince ( I wasn’t very sure about lamb or beef )
2. Mixed herbs
3. Ketchup
4. Salt and pepper
5. Red chilli powder
6. Garlic paste
7. Oil or butter

For the mashed potato crust:
1. Boiled potatoes
2. Egg yolk
3.  Oregano
4. Salt and pepper
5. Cheese ( processed one and mozzarella )
6. Bread crumbs

For the wash:
1. Egg
2. Corn flour
3. Bread crumbs
4. Oil

1. For the filling , take the mince ( I used frozen one ) add all the spices except butter and mix well. Heat up the butter, and fry the filling, on low flame.

2. Take the potatoes, add yolk and  mix, to a smooth creamy paste. Add seasoning, cheese, and add bread crumbs to bind it.

3. Take spoon full of mince ( you can add one egg if it doesn’t bind ), wrap it with mashed potato paste.

4. Make an alignment of flour ( with seasoning ) , egg wash, bread crumbs.
Dip those balls in flour ( make sure it covers properly) then dip it in egg and coat with crumbs.

5.  Heat up oil and deep fry them.

6. Serve them hot. I served with mayonnaise.
Enjoy 😊😊
